Introducing “Colombia” An extensively customized and hand-painted Breyer Lipizzaner Mare, transformed into a Paso Fino Colombiano stallion and inspired by the remarkable horses I encountered during my travels in Colombia.
Where the story began For years, Paso Fino Colombianos existed in my world only through horse encyclopedias and YouTube videos showcasing their extraordinary, naturally smooth gaits. Then, while staying in Medellín, I discovered that a small horse show was taking place in the suburbs. I couldn't miss the chance to see these famous horses in person.
I went there as an artist, eager to examine every horse in detail. And somewhere between observing their conformation, distinctive movement, and unmistakable presence, I realized that I had found my next subject.
My work with the breed began with a Breyer Lipizzaner Mare that had arrived in my studio almost by accident, with no particular plan for it. That model eventually became Colombia.
A complete transformation During my stay in Medellín, I gave the model an entirely new look. I added volume to his belly, croup, and neck, and transformed the original mare into a stallion.
Creating his new mane and tail was one of the most challenging parts of the customization. Without a Dremel or similar power tool, I had to work slowly and delicately to reshape the original parts.
The result was worth every minute. I particularly love his characteristic rooster tail, with its distinctive breed-specific curve. I also arranged the curls of his mane so they wouldn't interfere with a bridle, keeping Colombia practical for the show ring.
From a few spots to extreme sabino Choosing his coat color turned out to be a story of its own. Initially, I imagined a small, neat rabicano with just a couple of spots on the legs. But over the following months, that idea gradually evolved into something much more colorful and dramatic: an extreme sabino with striking markings and intricate details. Sometimes it genuinely felt as though new spots appeared every time I unpacked him from my suitcase!
The painting took over a year and a half to complete, allowing the design to evolve alongside my travels. What began as a relatively restrained idea eventually became one of the most distinctive coats I've created.
A horse that travelled the world with me Colombia accompanied me through seven countries and several thousand kilometres. I worked on his painting in Peru, Armenia, Russia, and Germany before finally completing him in Serbia. After that, he moved to Germany with me.
One memory I particularly cherish is working on him in a small village near Cali, with two enormous dogs keeping me company. Fascinated by the tiny horse, they kept bringing me sticks, hoping I'd finally put my brushes down and play with them instead.
By the time I finished Colombia, he had become much more than another model on my shelf. He was part of my personal history — a little piece of me preserved in the form of a horse. Something like a Horcrux, if you will. He accompanied me through a particularly difficult chapter of my life, and that's what makes him so special to me.
A champion in the show ring Colombia is one of the most successful show horses I've ever created. Throughout 2024 and 2026, he competed at model horse shows in Russia, Germany, and Poland, earning championship titles, first-place awards, and more than ten prize ribbons.
From Workmanship awards to Overall Championships, his show record is a source of enormous pride. All of his prize ribbons will accompany him to his new home. His next owner will receive not only a one-of-a-kind custom model with a deeply personal story, but also a proven show champion with an impressive collection of achievements.

A little piece of Colombia to take home Colombia's story began at an unforgettable Paso Fino Colombiano show in Medellín. A small metal badge I purchased there will accompany him to his new home — a little reminder of the place where his story began.
I hope he finds a cozy new home and continues his extraordinary journey, this time with a new owner creating the next chapter of his story.
